Skin needling

Microneedling is an advanced aesthetic treatment for skin rejuvenation, acne scarring and stretch marks. It creates micro punctures in the dermis to stimulate the production of new collagen and elastin, which are essential building blocks for a healthier, smoother-looking complexion.

Micro-needling

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a type of treatment that uses small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response and renew the skin cells. As your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. It can also help tackle other skin damage such as scarring, dark marks, sun damage and ageing.

How can you get better results from your treatments? Try layering. When you combine skin therapies like micro-needling and exosomes in a single session, your skin gets the whole package of restorative and remodelling effects for a fantastic anti-ageing skin glow-up.

Micro-needling involves using multiple tiny needles to create micro-punctures in the skin, which triggers the production of collagen deep down in the dermis. The high speed of the pen increases the effectiveness of the treatment and achieves excellent results, creating smoother, brighter and healthier looking skin, minimising the appearance of lines, wrinkles and scarring.

At Eterno Aesthetics we use Derma FNS™, an electronic microneedling device which applies hundreds of small needles to vertically pierce the skin and create channels that are designed to achieve the same effect as those created by fractional lasers, stimulating natural dermal processes, leading to tightening and remodelling.

After treatment, your body will start to naturally regenerate the skin and enhance the blood supply, and it can take up to 6 weeks before you start to see visible signs of repair. The process will then continue over the following months, resulting in gradual and long-lasting improvements to your skin.

Exosomes can also be added to boost the suppleness and appearance of your complexion.

For best results, at least 3 sessions are recommended, but each case is individual and will depend on the quality of your skin and level of damage. A complimentary at-home skincare regimen is highly recommended to maintain optimum complexion quality.

Micro-needling treatment can take an hour and a half or more to complete. The exact time depends on the area that is being treated. 30 minutes of preparation are needed for topical numbing to be applied before treatment.

The short answer is no, microneedling does not hurt. However, there may be some mild discomfort during the treatment depending on pain tolerance, skin sensitivity, and the depth of the needles used. Many people describe the sensation as simply a mild prickling or vibrating feeling.

Here at Eterno Aesthetics, our expert practitioners prioritise your comfort throughout our microneedling treatments, ensuring you remain as comfortable as possible throughout. We can apply a numbing cream to the skin before the treatment, which can help reduce any sensations felt during the procedure. Additionally, we can also adjust the speed at which we move the needles across your skin, which can help to further reduce any discomfort.

Generally, you should start to see the skin tightening and appearing more even in tone around a week or two after the first session. For areas with deeper imperfections, results can be subtler, and additional treatments are usually required. Because micro-needling stimulates new collagen and elastin production, these results will continue to build for up to 6 months.

We can’t stop the ageing process; we can only slow it down. With this in mind, results are not permanent, as natural degradation will occur over time. Improvements from micro-needling can be seen for several years after treatment, and results can be prolonged with regular treatments and the correct at-home skincare maintenance.

The most requested areas to treat are the face, neck, hands, and chest. Micro-needling can also be effective on most types of scarring and stretch marks.

Acne Scars

Microneedling uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, which stimulates collagen and elastin production to repair old scar tissue and form new, healthy skin. This process reduces the visibility of acne scars, leading to a smoother skin texture and even tone. While it may not eliminate every scar, microneedling can significantly improve the appearance of atrophic scars like rolling and boxcar types, often requiring a series of treatments to achieve optimal results.

Dry Skin

Microneedling can improve dry skin by boosting collagen and improving product penetration, but post-treatment dryness is a normal and temporary side effect. To manage this, apply hydrating, soothing products with ingredients like hyaluronic acid, moisturise thoroughly, and drink plenty of water to support healing and hydration. Avoid active ingredients, makeup, and sun exposure for the initial days, and allow the skin to breathe to prevent further irritation and infection.

Fine Lines

Microneedling treats fine lines by creating microscopic punctures in the skin, which triggers the body's natural healing process to produce new collagen and elastin. This increased collagen production improves skin texture and firmness, making fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable over time. The process requires multiple sessions for optimal results and is more effective when performed by a qualified skin specialist due to the use of sharper needles and deeper penetration.

Congestion

Microneedling can help congested skin by creating micro-injuries that stimulate collagen production, improve cell turnover, and enhance product absorption, which helps to clear pores and reduce blockages. The process boosts the skin's natural ability to shed dead cells, preventing build-up that leads to blackheads and a dull complexion. For optimal results, a consistent treatment plan is needed, and ensuring proper aftercare is crucial to prevent further breakouts by keeping the microchannels clear.
