Polynucleotides

Polynucleotides are used to remodel the face by restoring radiance and freshness to mature and dehydrated skin. This injectable treatment is made up of highly purified fragments of DNA extracted from wild salmon or trout, which closely resemble human DNA.

What do polynucleotides do?

Polynucleotides are a game-changer for skin health, stimulating collagen production, improving elasticity, and deeply hydrating the skin. They’re perfect for targeting fine lines, dullness, and tired-looking areas, helping to restore a much more radiant, youthful glow. This treatment is an ideal choice to enhance your skin in a natural-looking way.

They’re similar to skin boosters like Redensity1. However, Polynucleotides offer cellular repair and tissue regeneration for long-term, deep skin improvement, while traditional skin boosters primarily provide immediate, surface-level hydration and nourishment.

Taking a scientific approach to the question: ‘what are polynucleotides’, it is an advanced injectable treatment containing filtered, ultra-purified and sterilised DNA fractions to rejuvenate the skin. Polynucleotides are not actual salmon sperm; instead, they are purified DNA extracted from salmon and trout sperm.

We can treat many concerns with polynucleotides, including:

  • Stretch marks and deep lines + wrinkles.
  • Dehydration (for a dull dermis at any age).
  • Skin revitalisation to combat the general signs of ageing.
  • Preparation / recovery pre + post procedures / surgeries.
  • Acne, atrophic scarring, rosacea and elastosis.
  • Alopecia and/or hair loss + hyperpigmentation.

3 treatments, 3 weeks apart, are recommended to achieve optimum results. Treatment can be a little uncomfortable; therefore, numbing cream is applied before injection.

Polynucleotides stimulate cell receptors which positively influence the following:

  • Cell regeneration and the repair and regenerative actions of fibroblast cells.
  • The production of collagen and elastin, hyaluronic acid and healthy new micro-blood vessels.
  • Reduce inflammation and regulate water balance + formation of fat cells.
  • The function of melanocytes, which produce pigment.

Polynucleotides are injected into the superficial layer of the skin using either a fine needle or a cannula to administer multiple microdoses into the target area.

Yes, you’ll meet with one of our aesthetic nurses at our Broadfield Road-based skin clinic in Sheffield for a pre-treatment consultation to assess your skin and discuss the best-suited treatment options. It isn’t possible to book your Botox treatment the same day, as we’ll need to process a pharmaceutical prescription, usually done within a couple of days.

Results are not instant, but improvement can be seen from about 3 weeks and continues to improve over a 12 week period. Patients report a general improvement in the skin overall and it should feel smoother and more hydrated. Texture should also be improved, as well as fine lines, wrinkles and scarring (less depth, smaller and a better colour).

Longevity varies between individuals, however, a maintenance treatment is recommended every 4-6 months.

It is likely there will be small bumps just under the skin that will be visible for 24 – 48 hours. It’s also possible there’ll be some redness, pin prick marks, possible swelling and bruising. Swelling is likely to settle within 48 hours and bruising may be more apparent the next day (takes up to 10 – 14 days to dissipate).
