Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Botox treatment takes around 30 minutes. As part of the process, you’ll be asked to raise your eyebrows, frown, and squint to mark out the unwanted lines on your face. Using a very fine needle, a small amount of muscle relaxant is injected into the target areas. The treatment site may sting for a couple of seconds, and normal activities can be resumed immediately after. It takes 2-3 days for Botox injections to begin working and up to 14 days to see the full results.

Botox is most effective where lines are formed from muscle contractions, such as smiling and frowning (e.g. laughter lines). Botox® can also be used to reduce the appearance of forehead lines, vertical neck bands, grooves above the upper lip, and a gummy smile. A combination of treatments, such as Botox and dermal fillers, may be advised to achieve your desired results. 

The effects of muscle relaxants are not permanent, lasting 3 – 4 months. This may be a longer or shorter period, varying from person to person. After this time, muscle activity will resume, and retreatment is required.

Yes, you’ll meet with one of our aesthetic nurses at our Broadfield Road-based skin clinic in Sheffield for a pre-treatment consultation to assess your skin and discuss the best-suited treatment options. It isn’t possible to book your Botox treatment the same day, as we’ll need to process a pharmaceutical prescription, usually done within a couple of days.

Botox is ideal for anyone above the age of 18 wanting to maintain a relaxed, smooth, youthful appearance. We can also treat hyperhidrosis (excessive armpit sweating) with results lasting 6 – 12 months. Anti-wrinkle injections are not suitable whilst pregnant or nursing. If you don’t qualify for Botox due to a muscle or nerve condition, you may not be a good candidate for other cosmetic treatments. There are also other alternatives and add-ons to Botox that you may want to consider, such as dermal fillers or polynucleotides. Downtime is minimal for this treatment. Slight bruising may occur from the treatment, which can be covered with makeup if needed the day after.

Many people describe the treatment as a ‘mild sting’ and find it comfortable. We use the smallest needles available to make the process as painless as possible, and we can apply numbing cream before your Botox treatment if needed, although treatments are typically performed comfortably without.

After being treated with Botox, you should avoid makeup for at least 4 hours. We also ask that you avoid heavy exercise, alcohol and extreme temperatures for 24 hours post treatment. A detailed aftercare guide will be emailed to you post treatment.
